The Costigan Family Softball Scholarship

The Costigan Family became involved with HCYP Baseball in 2005 and later joined HCYP Softball in 2008, with a few HCYP Basketball seasons sprinkled in along the way. When their daughter, Madi, began playing, Heather quickly became involved as both a coach and a leader within the HCYP community.

For nearly 20 years, HCYP Softball has been an important part of the Costigan family's life. In appreciation for all that the program has given them, they have established this scholarship to give back to future generations of HCYP Softball players.

The Costigan Family Softball Scholarship recognizes young women who share a passion for the game and exemplify the values it teaches. It is intended to encourage recipients to carry the lessons learned on the softball field—dedication, teamwork, leadership, perseverance, and sportsmanship—into their higher education and beyond.

Each year, we will award a $4000 scholarship, to be awarded $1000 per academic year for 4 years, to an HCYP Softball player who has played with HCYP for at least the last 2 spring seasons.  Application is open to HCYP Rec & MD Patriots Full-time Travel players.

The Costigan Family Scholarship Committee would like to congratulate Zoey Roper on receiving the inaugural Costigan Family Scholarship. Zoey has been a valuable part of the local community, volunteering with the library system and serving on her school's National Arts Honors Society leadership team. Zoey participated in HCYP Rec softball and recently graduated from Howard High School with outstanding grades. She will be attending UMBC in the Fall to study Psychology and Animation.  We are proud to be able to be a part of her next chapter!
